The Northern Wayne Fire Company will be sending out their annual fund drive in April 2012. Chairperson for the Fund Drive, Valerie McGraw, reports there are approximately 3000 subscription letter sent out to land owners in their territory. The return is approximately 20 percent of the 3000 mailed. The members of the fire company do the leg work of this drive. Years ago, Valerie reports, we had an outside company do the work, but it became to expensive. So in an effort to save money, we do it ourselves. A lot of time goes into it, but it is well worth it. Due to the fact that many residents are not here in January, we feel it is best to send the mailing out in April, cutting down the returns.
As always we are looking for new members. If anyone is interested they can contact any fire company member for an application. You don’t have to be a firefighter or ambulance personnel; we have many members who are social members that help with the functions we host. For example, the Carnival in the summer of the Pancake Breakfast held every 2nd Sunday of the month. Our fire company meetings are held every last Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Fire Hall in Lakewood. All are welcome to attend.
