The following cases were addressed Thursday, April 16, 2009 by the Honorable Raymond L. Hamill, President Judge, Wayne County:
• Robert Allen Hanson, age 68 of Honesdale was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for one count of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree and one count of Harassment-Strike, Shove, Kick, graded as a summary offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, a fine in the amount of $300.00, and attend an anger management course.
The incident occurred on May 8, 2008, in Cherry Ridge Township when Hanson threw a plate at a female victim causing injury to her nose.
• John Herbert Rice, age 47 of Honesdale was placed on probation for a period of 2 years for one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a felony of the 3rd degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, restitution in the amount of $500.00, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of the sample.
The incident occurred between July 21, 2006, and July 31, 2006, in Palmyra Township when Rice removed a tractor and a wood splitter from a private residence.
• Richard Allen Drutherosky, age 38 of Dalton was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for one count of Criminal Attempt-Theft, graded as a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, a finest in the amount of $300.00, perform 50 hours of community service, continue with drug and alcohol treatment and have no contact with the co-defendant in this matter.
The incident occurred on November 24, 2007, in South Canaan Township when Drutherosky and a co-defendant removed items from a barn without the owner’s permission. Drutherosky had previously paid $5,000.00 in restitution to the victim.
• Carol Anne Laabs, age 42 of Lake Ariel was placed on probation for a period of 18 months for one count of Possession of Controlled Substance, an ungraded misdemeanor and one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, perform 50 hours of community service, and pay restitution in the amount of $1,496.00.
The incident occurred between October 19, 2008, and October 25, 2008, in Palmyra Township when Laabs stole Darvocet while employed at a local pharmacy.
