“The Wayne County Food Pantry Program is very fortunate and grateful to receive a check in the amount of $842.40 from the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church,” said Kathleen Terry, Pantry Coordinator.
Money was collected on October 3rd during the Church’s 3rd Annual 5K run held at Bingham Park in Hawley. Each year a different organization has been chosen to receive the proceeds from the charity run. The pantry program is beginning to notice a trend towards increasing need throughout the community, so the timing of this donation is especially helpful, Terry noted.
The Wayne County Pantry Program assists approximately 575 income eligible families each month with a bag/box of canned goods and shelf staple foods to help stretch limited household budgets. All donations stay in Wayne County.
The Wayne County Pantry Program has five sites located in strategic areas of the County to serve eligible County residents. The food pantry sites are in Honesdale, Lakeville, Newfoundland, Lakewood, and Damascus.
