The Wayne County Commissioners heard from Stephen Lawrence Tuesday about a future office in Honesdale for SCORE, a national organization which provides counseling to small businesses.
SCORE is a volunteer organization which “serves your community and helps new and existing businesses succeed,” as stated in an informational packet.
The organization helps with preparing and testing business plans and recommending operational/financing alternatives. They also provide access to business templates, online workshops and needed training, according to the packet.
SCORE is networked with Workforce Wayne and the Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO). The organization has over 11,000 volunteers, mentors and coaches in over 370 offices nationwide, including Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Stroudsburg, and soon, Honesdale.
A business background is always helpful, but is not necessary to be a volunteer, said Mr. Lawrence.
