On Sunday, July 25th at 10 a.m. Lacawac Sanctuary will hold a Canoe Paddle Workshop. Never paddled a canoe before but want to learn the basics?

Can't paddle in a straight line? Make a turn?

Join us for a fun morning paddle class with veteran instructor Mike Peterson. Learn basics of safety, strokes, boarding, etc. An hour of land work followed by
an hour of water exercise and coaching on Lake Lacawac- a 52 acre pristine
glacial lake formed 13,000 years ago. Participants can then spend the balance of the morning exploring Lake Lacawac, nature watching and enjoying a leisurely paddle. Great Parent-child activity!

Pre-registration is required as watercraft is limited. The cost is $10. To
register call 570-689-9494 or email info@lacawac.org.

Lacawac Sanctuary is a non-profit community based organization dedicated to
preservation of the natural environment, public environmental education and
scientific research. It is supported by volunteers, memberships and
donations.

The 545 acre nature preserve includes one mile of shoreline on
Lake Wallenpaupack and is one of the few sites nationwide that is federally
recognized as both a National Natural Landmark and is on the National
Register of Historic Places.

The public is invited to visit Lacawac to hike and explore its various
nature trails and to participate in the numerous educational and outdoor
programs offered on the site. For more information about membership or a
calendar of program offerings, contact 570-689-9494, info@lacawac.org or
