Car hits utility pole

 A utility pole was split in two, but no one was injured in a a crash, Thursday morning, said State Police at Honesdale. The accident occurred in Palmyra Township (Wayne), along the Owego Turnpike.
At 5 a.m., a 2003 Ford F250 pickup was heading westbound and went off the road, about 115 feet from SR 590. The truck struck the pole off the north berm and then a tree. Trooper Pritchyk said that the driver, Stephen D. Eldred, 21, of Honesdale, had drifted asleep. He and his passenger escaped injury. The driver was charged for careless driving, said police.
