The following closings have been scheduled by PennDOT in order to perform road maintenance on Route 81:
• North of Exit 164 (Nanticoke/ PA 29). Northbound & Southbound. Utility work scheduled Sunday (7/20). Rolling road blocks with brief traffic stoppages 6:30am-7:30am
• Exits 180-182: Northbound. Pothole patching scheduled on Saturday (7/19) from Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 182 (Davis St/Montage Mountain Rd). Delays 6am-2pm.
• Exit 197 to New York State Line: Northbound & Southbound. Paving crews have begun pavement repairs, milling and resurfacing between Exit 197 (Waverly) and the New York State line. Drivers alert: Watch for alternating lane restrictions and crews working behind cones. Work is daytime, 6am to 6pm, or later, with lanes reopening after work hours. Work is Monday through Thursday. Be aware that heavy backlogs do occur. Night time work and possible weekend work can be expected at some point during the project. Advance notice will be provided . No work on holidays or during the Harford Fair (8/18-23). Anticipated completion is September 2008.
• Exits 206-211: Northbound & Southbound. NB driving lane closed; SB passing lane closed for single lane travel through the work zone. Barriers will be maintained 24/7. Work is 7am to 5pm and includes rehabilitation of 14 bridges and two deck replacements over 7.4 miles from Route 209 to Sunset Lake Rd.(T-314) Lehman Township, Susquehanna County. • Exits 211-217: Northbound, Lenox and Harford Townships, Susquehanna County, pothole patching between Exit 211 (Lenox) and Exit 217 (Harford) Monday (7/21) to Thursday (7/24). Expect delays for alternating single lane restrictions.
