The Wayne Highlands School Board approved the hiring of a teacher, guidance counselor and the substitute list at Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
Megan Murray was hired as a Special Education Teacher (kindergarten through fifth grade) at the Preston School.
Page Pinto was appointed as a Honesdale High School guidance counselor, effective for the 2009-10 school year. And the following names were added to the District’s substitute list: Secretary/teacher assistant/ cafeteria -Karen Burkavage and Robin Mead; teacher -Katherine Campbell; School Nurse -Patricia Kandrovy; and secretary/ teacher assistant -Colleen Lowe.
Melissa Schwartz’s position as a part-time personal care assistant at the Lakeside Elementary School was expanded to full-time, effective in the 2009-10 school year.
The personnel committee also approved the following supervisors for the Honesdale High School Cardio-fitness program: Holly Stanton, Joseph Luchansky, Dorothy Rickard, Judith Kich, Ronald Rowe, Maria West, and Colette Ballew.
Appointed as faculty leaders at the Damascus School are: Helen Adams, kindergarten through second grade and head teacher; Cathy Phillips, grades third through fifth; and Rosanne Alexander, grades sixth through eighth.
Starting compensation rates
The board also approved the following starting compensation rates for the 2009-10 school year:
• custodians/ district maintenance - $8 per hour
• teacher assistants/ library assistants/ physical education assistants - $7.50 per hour
• assistant nurses - $12.25 per hour
• administrative assistants - $8.90 per hour
• special education paraeducators/ personal care assistants $9.25 per hour
• cafeteria - $7.25 per hour
• administrate assistant for substitute assignments/ school psychologist - $9.65 per hour
• computer technical analysts - $17.25 per hour
• accounting technician - $14.76 per hour.
