Chain saw taken
Unknown persons entered an outbuilding on a farm on South Smith Road, Clinton Township, July 15th. A Mantis garden tiller, a red Johnson 450 chain saw and a five gallon gas can were stolen. This occurred in broad daylight, between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., said Trooper John Chervanka.
Boat radio swiped
Between 6 p.m. July 16 and 4:30 p.m., July 18, someone stole a boat radio with a CD player, from Rockledge III boat dock. This is on Lake Wallenpaupack in Paupack Township. The radio was taken out of a boat while it was docked, noted Trooper Kyle Hnat.
Log splitter gone
State Police are investigating a theft of a log splitter belonging to a Lake Ariel man, taken from 110 East Shore Drive, Lake Township. It was swiped sometime between 11 p.m. July 11 and 12 noon, July 12. Trooper Adam Kowalczyk investigated.
Charged for shoplifting
Trooper Brian Rickard reported that criminal charges of retail theft were lodged against Jessica Burd, 32, of Dunmore, following an incident in Hamlin.
The theft occurred at 12:35 p.m., July 8 at the Dollar General on Route 590. Burd is alleged to have entered the store with a large handbag and placed multiple pieces of merchandise inside. These included a pillow and blanket set and a pair of flip-flops. She then proceeded to leave the store without paying for the items, said police.
Maple syrup materials lifted
State Police at Dunmore report the theft of pieces to make equipment used to make maple syrup, stolen from a farmer’s market at 3750 Madisonville Rd., Madison Township, Lackawanna County. This occurred anytime from July 12 through July 19. Various pieces of stainless steel, copper and aluminum parts were stolen, which are used to make lids, pans and pipes. Trooper Scott Walck investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dunmore barracks at 963-3156.
Burglary attempted
State Police at Honesdale released a report on an attempted burglary at the Junction 507 store, along Route 507 a half mile west of SR 196, Lehigh Township. At around 12:13 midnight, July 8, someone pried the side entrance door open, using what appeared to be a blunt object. The door and frame were damaged in the process. An audible alarm was activated through the victim’s alarm company, ADT. The perpetrator(s) fled the scene, said Trooper Michael Pritchyk.
