Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) is now offering neuro-spine surgery for the first time in its history, thanks to Philip J. Hlavac, MD, of North East PA Neuro Spine PC.  The board certified neurosurgeon is set to perform his first operation at Wayne Memorial on September 23rd.
Wayne Memorial worked efficiently to accommodate Dr. Hlavac and patients in need of his services. Referring to the area’s aging population, WMH’s Chief Executive Officer David Hoff said, “Dr. Philip Hlavac's services meet a growing need.”  Dr. Hlavac is a graduate of Northwestern University in Illinois and Albany Medical College in New York State. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at Albany Medical Center.
Since arriving in northeast Pennsylvania in 2003, Dr. Hlavac has opened practices in Wilkes-Barre, Dunmore, and this spring in Honesdale.  He sees patients suffering back, neck or cranial problems and carpal tunnel. Experienced in performing many minimally invasive and new procedures, such as micro disc surgery, Dr. Hlavac looks forward to serving Wayne and Pike County residents.  His office is located at the Stourbridge Medical and Professional Complex on Maple Avenue, about a half mile west of Wayne Memorial Hospital. For information, call (570)558-3540 or 251-6672.
