HONESDALE -

John J. Visci has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and remains in Wayne County Prison awaiting his case.
Visci was extradited to Wayne County in late April after being located in California. He was wanted by Honesdale Borough Police or the theft of approximately $29,000 from American Legion Post 254 in Honesdale. Visci was the Post’s Financial Officer at the time of the theft.
He is also charged with stealing $1,000 from the Wayne County Veteran’s Center.
Appearing in Central Court Wednesday at the Courthouse, he gave up his rights to a hearing where a magistrate would have weighed the evidence for the charges brought against him. Instead, his case was forwarded directly to the County Court of Common Pleas.
District Judge Ronald Edwards presided at Central Court.
Attorney Ernest Preate is representing him. Visci remains incarcerated in lieu of $125,000 bail.
The warrants for his arrest were filed in December 2007.
