Beware — Callers who are seeking your credit card information on classified advertisements for The Wayne Independent, The News Eagle, The Carbondale News or The Villager are not associated with us.
Unless you get a call directly from our classified advertising representatives do not give out your personal information, especially a credit card number.
Please make certain that the person you are speaking to is from the newspaper. Offer to take their name and number and call them back. If you have caller ID, please make sure that the number the person is calling from is associated with the newspaper.
The Wayne Independent received several calls Friday morning from customers stating that someone claiming to be with a billing department associated with the newspaper called them for a credit card number. These calls are not coming from our classified sales representatives.
