Pa. State Police, Honesdale, reported October 28th, that a man who wouldn’t put down a machete, is in Wayne County Prison awaiting his day in court.
The incident occurred October 5th at 3:35 p.m., when Cpl. Michael Carroll arrived at a home in South Canaan township due to a complaint. Cpl. Carroll allegedly was confronted by James Bryant Arnold, age 47 of that township, who was carrying a machete. He refused to put it down when told to do so by Cpl. Carroll, said Trooper Sharon Palmer-Wilkins.
Cpl. Carroll fired his taser at Arnold and took Arnold into custody.
EMS personnel from Waymart Ambulance were summoned to the scene and pronounced Arnold as medically cleared. Cpl. Carroll transported Arnold to Marion Community Hospital for evaluation.
Arnold was released from Marion on October 10th and arraigned before District Judge Jane Farrell. Charges filed against Arnold were two counts of aggravated assault and one count of resisting arrest.
He was lodged in Wayne County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail, and on the 15th, waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
