A week after fire severely damaged MJ’s Corner Cafe in Pleasant Mt., State Police Fire Marshal Stephen Kaneski said there was, “No specific cause, but it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.”
Trooper Kaneski said the blaze appeared to have started in the basement, since, “that’s where the extensive damage is. Everything above it (the kitchen and stairwell) collapsed into it,” he said in a phone interview Monday.
Over a dozen local fire departments responded to the July 29 blaze. The building’s three occupants, including owner James Booth, escaped uninjured. Bob Muller, Vice President of Pleasant Mt. Emergency Services, said no firefighters were injured in the restaurant/bar blaze.
