A man is in the Wayne County prison this weekend on charges that he tried to murder his wife.
On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Jesus Martinez-Escobar was arrested at the CMC Hospital in Scranton and arraigned on charges including Attempted Homicide and Aggravated Assault for an incident that occurred in the late hours of Thursday, Feb. 2, into Friday, Feb. 3 in which he allegedly attempted to strangle his wife with a video game cable.
Escobar had been under the supervision of Honesdale Borough Police while he was hospitalized for a self inflicted stab wound to the chest after the incident.
Upon his discharge from the hospital he was immediately arrested and brought before Magisterial District Justice Ted Mikulak for preliminary arraignment. He was later committed to the Wayne County Correctional Facility with no bail.
Escobar is next scheduled to appear at Central Court on February 22, at 9 a.m.
