Spaghetti dinner benefit set
HONESDALE – A spaghetti and meatball dinner benefit for Anna Wilmot will be held at Laurel’s Coffee Grinder restaurant, 526 Main St., Honesdale, Wednesday, November 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Anna has lung cancer and ovarian cancer.

Lupus group on holiday break

Historical Society sets awards dinner
TAFTON – The Greene-Dreher Historical Society will host a holiday luncheon and awards ceremony on December 7 at Ehrhardt's Waterfront Restaurant.  Members of the Greene-Dreher community will be recognized for their work in historic preservation.  The public is invited.  Cost is $17 per person.  Contact Mrs Betty Roach, 676-4729, not later than November 25 for reservations.  This will be the last meeting of the society until April 2010.

Have chicken dinner and vote
EQUINUNK – The Manchester Community Library will hold its semi-annual Election Day Take-out Chicken Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dinners include a half chicken, vegetables, baked potato, roll, and choice of desserts. The Library is located in a separate building behind the regular polling place, the Manchester Township offices, at 3879 Hancock Highway, (Rte. 191.)  Dinners are $8.00 – half portions are available for $5.00. Preston to hold parent-teachers confrences
LAKEWOOD – School WILL NOT be in session for students in the Preston Area School on Thursday, November12, due to parent-teacher conferences. 
Parent–teacher conferences will be held in the Middle School, Grades 6-8 from  1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Grades K-5 will have scheduled appointment times from 1 p.m.. to 4:30 p.m.. and 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  School officials hope all parents will take this opportunity to meet with their children’s teachers.

VFW Post hosts PTSD seminar
 HONESDALE –  Veteran John Miller will host a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder information seminar on October 31 at 1 p.m. This informative seminar will be held at Hogencamp/Schupper VFW Post 531, 736 Main St, Honesdale.  This seminar is open to the public.

Library in Hamlin hosts book sale
HAMLIN – The Friends of the Community Library of Lake and Salem Townships is conducting a book sale on Saturday, October 31, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Bargains galore!  Something for everyone!  Fiction/Non-fiction, Adult/Children, Hard cover/paperback, VCR tapes, DVDs, etc.  The book sale will take place in the Community Room (lower level) of the Library located on Route 191, 1/4 mile south of Hamlin Corners.


Slime Time held Oct. 31
HONESDALE – The First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale is holding Slime Time on Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel. Offering games, crafts and snacks, the free event is open to all children 12 and under, accompanied by an adult. They’re also holding “trunk or treat” with church members handing out candy from open car trunks parked near the church. Anyone with questions may call the church at 253-5451 and ask for Emily.

BEACH LAKE - The S.D.A. Community Service Center is open on the first and third Thursday of the month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Rt. 652 & Dunn Road west of Beach Lake.
