Aqua Pennsylvania has issued a precautionary boil water notice for its customers in the Honesdale system north of 4th Street and in the Seelyville area beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The precautionary boil order is in place to accommodate maintenance that Aqua is doing at its Cadjaw water storage tank.
Aqua urges customers not to drink the water unless it is boiled first. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
On Friday, Aqua took its Cadjaw tank out of service so that it could be cleaned to address discolored water issues some customers in the northern section of Honesdale had experienced this week.
Aqua will notfiy customers once the precautionary notice is lifted.
