A Narrowsburg man is accused of filling is shopping cart at Wal-Mart twice, the second time without paying.
Joseph Benitez, 73, of Narrowsburg, finished shopping at the Texas Township Wal-Mart, paid, then he allegedly took his cart back into the aisles and picked up more merchandise, reported state police and a Wal-Mart theft unit.
He was observed allegedly placing some of the unpaid items into the bags of already paid merchandise.
The incident occurred April 1 at noon.
When he attempted to leave the store, he was detained. State police filed retail theft charges with district court.
• State police are investigating a residential burglary in Lehigh Township.
Unknown actors broke into a home on Cochise Trail through a side-entry door. Once inside, they rummaged through the residence and left through the point-of-entry. State police said the incident could have occurred between January 24 to April 17.

• Someone vandalized a Texas Township resident’s vehicle on Saturday, April 18.
An unknown actor(s) deflated three tires on the victim’s vehicle and tore off a license plate border, state police reported. The vehicle was parked on Terrace Street, and the crime is believed to have occurred between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

• A one-vehicle crash in Sterling Township on Sunday resulted in no injuries.
Kristy L. Hicks, 20, of Mount Airy, NC, lost control of her 2000 Hyundai while traveling west on Interstate 84, state police reported. Hicks failed to keep her vehicle in the travel lane, drove over the rumble strips, then overcompensated her steering. This caused her to drive off the highway and strike a tree, said police.
Her passenger, Blake Casanova, of Mount Airy, was not injured in the crash.
