A Scranton man has been arrested for aggravated assault and several other charges after allegedly driving his car at a high rate of speed and aiming it toward the Fritz Brothers Well Drilling on Cliff Street, police said.
Just after 10 p.m. Sunday, police responded to 100 Cliff Street for a reported car crashing into a building.
There they found Donald Klick, 36, of Scranton, who was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus on Willow Avenue.
Authorities said Klick drove his car at a high rate of speed, and allegedly aimed it toward Fritz Brothers Well Drilling, which is located at 100 Cliff Street. Klick drove over a sidewalk, through a parking lot, and into the front of the building, without attempting to brake or avoid the collision.
Police said a 34-year-old female passenger in Klick’s vehicle reported being in an altercation in the car with Klick just prior to the collision.
Both Klick and the passenger were treated for injuries at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Klick was arrested at the hospital on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and DUI. He was arraigned by District Judge Ted Mikulak and sent to the Wayne County Correctional Facility after failing to post $25,000 bail.
Honesdale EMS, Honesdale Fire Department, and Northeast Towing assisted at the scene.
The Honesdale Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Ptlm. Ronald Kominski at (570)253-1900.
