Manchester / Waymart -

A fatal crash last summer in Manchester Township now has a Broome County, New York man in jail.
Thomas R. Pilkington, 38, of Vestal, NY, was taken into custody on Friday on a charge of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, among other charges, for an accident that occurred on August 23 at 2:40 a.m.
His passenger, Kimberly A. Knapp, 50, of Endwell, NY, died at the scene of the accident on Route 191 in Manchester Township, according to the state police report.
Pilkington sustained injuries and was treated at CMC Hospital in Scranton.
Police had filed charges against Pilkington, but the charges were pending for further investigation.
Pennsylvania State Police issued a warrant for his arrest in December, after wrapping up a four-month investigation.
He was taken into custody by the Vestal New York Police Department, and is currently incarcerated at the Broome County Prison awaiting extradition to Wayne County.

Wild ride through Waymart

An out-of-control driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol, who attempted to head butt state police troopers and drove on sidewalks and lawns in Waymart last Tuesday, is in Wayne County Prison.
Andrew J. Gaudenzi, 22, of Waymart, was discovered on Belmont Street in downtown Waymart with his 1998 Plymouth Voyager flipped on its passenger side, after a wild ride through town that night, according to the state police report.
With the road covered in snow and sleet, Gaudenzi lost control of his vehicle after fish tailing on Belmont Street.
His traveled into the opposite lane, then up onto the sidewalk, striking a Varcoe Insurance sign in front of the business, a fire hydrant, and a lamp post outside of the business Wine & Roses. The incident was reported at 10:40 p.m.
He showed signs of being intoxicated and admitted to drinking several beers, according to the report. He had a passenger with him; both had been strapped in and escaped injury.
After failing a field sobriety test, he was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which he refused.
Throughout the incident, state police say Gaudenzi was “unruly” and attempted to head butt state trooper Kyle Hnat and several other officers while in custody.
Hnat used his electronic stun-gun to control Gaudenzi.
Gaudenzi was incarcerated at Wayne County Prison on $25,000 bail, and charged with DUI, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and several traffic citations.
Waymart Fire and Rescue assisted.
