A Paupack man traded his vehicle as part of a private sale only to find out that the vehicle he received was stolen.
State Police, Blooming Grove, said that the victim, who is 46, was selling his 1999 Ford 250 pickup to the suspect, a man from Lehigton, Pa., March 23. A trade of vehicles and $3,500 was agreed between both parties. The victim received a new vehicle for his trade of his vehicle and $3,500. He was then notified approximately four weeks after the purchase from the Lehigh and Northampton County Auto Theft Task Force that his new purchased vehicle was ultimately stolen from the Lehigh area.
“The victim is now without a vehicle and $3,500,” said Trooper Carl D. Ives. The matter is under investigation.
Hit & run
On Friday, May 9 at approximately 8:15 a.m., Honesdale Police were called to investigate a hit and run accident on West Park Street.
An unknown white male was operating a red Toyota truck, and backed into a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The driver of he red Toyota truck then fled the scene without providing information to the other party.
The red Toyota truck is believed to have dark tinted windows, a black rear bumper with a trailer hitch, and the drivers side rear is missing the red paint or painted a gray color. Anyone with information is asked to call the Honesdale Police at (570)253-1900.
