Most stores complied with tobacco law

HONESDALE -

The Honesdale Police Department and members of the Take Action For Tobacco Free Youth of Wayne County conducted compliance checks on retail establishments within the Borough of Honesdale that sell tobacco products. Ten licensed establishments were checked.
 Eight  of the 10 stores did not sell any tobacco products. These stores include: Wenigers Variety,  CVS, Clarks Sunrise Market, Dillon Markets DBA Turkey Hill,  McCaffrey’s Market, Flederbach Beverage, Smokin Joe’s and Flederbach Foods
Two stores did sell a tobacco product to a minor during this round of checks, according to Police. They are: Fowler’s Oil DBA Uptown Sunoco and Highhouse Mobil.  Both the stores and the clerks were cited for the sale of the tobacco products.
