During April, Waymart Borough Police addressed several concerns, from ATVs being operated on streets to roaming cats.
Chief Nicole Brandt reported to Council Tuesday the following synopsis:
• April 1-Letter of violation is being mailed to a property owner on South Street where garbage was left.
• April 1- The owner of several cats has been contacted after the cats were reported to be wandering in the area of Marian and Center streets.
• April 1- An ATV was stopped by Officer Jessie Seana on Birch Lane and the owner warned of violating the Pa. Vehicle Code.
• April 1- An owner of a beagle on Maple Street was advised by Officer Seana of violating the ordinance by allowing the dog to roam loose.
• April 3- An ATV dirt bike was stopped by Officer Joseph Bifano on the sidewalk near the Wayne Bank, Belmont Street and advised to stay off the sidewalks and told this was a Pa. Vehicle Code violation.
• April 10- An ATV was stopped by Officer Seana on South Street and Carbondale Road, and the owner warned of a Pa. Vehicle Code violation.
• April 22- Chief Brandt and Officer Seana conducted an investigation at 605 South Street where several junk vehicles were located. A warning was given to the owner, who stated they will begin cleaning up the property. Ordinances are being sent by mail.
• April 22- Chief Brandt and Officer Seana served a warrant on Jeffrey Wolfe for aggravated assault charges for an incident that occurred at the Waymart Deli. He was arraigned before magistrate Farrell and bail set at $5,000 unsecured and is pending a preliminary hearing.
During April, Waymart Police dealt with one abandoned vehicle, three assists to the fire department, two assists to other police agencies, one ATV complaint, four harassment incidents, 12 miscellaneous incidents, one assist to the public, one residence check, and three traffic control incidents. Officers conducted 22 traffic stops.
