Jared Kenyon, 24 years old, of Easton, was pronounced dead at the scene of a one vehicle accident early Sunday, by the Wayne County Coroner.
The crash occurred along SR 191 in Manchester Township at approximately 2:30 a.m. State Police said that Kenyon was traveling north on 191 when for unknown reasons he allowed his vehicle to cross into the southbound lane an onto the west berm. The 2004 Ford Escape struck the embankment on the west road side causing it to partially overturn.
Kenyon was not wearing a seat belt at the time and was partially ejected through the passenger window., Trooper Adam Kowalczyk said. Equinunk Volunteer Fire Department and Damascus EMS assisted on scene.
Jared, the son of Timothy and Beth Kenyon of Equinunk, was a student at Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown.
Driver flees Honesdale crash
Teresa Tridente of Lake Ariel was driving a 2007 Saturn east on 4th Street, Honesdale and stopped in traffic just past the intersection with Main Street, on April 24. She was struck from behind by a white Mazda that fled north onto Church Street after a brief stop. Tridente obtained the license plate of the vehicle which led police to the registered owner, Kelly Schimanski, 22, of the Honesdale area, said Honesdale Police.
The impact caused minor damage to both vehicles and Tridente sustained injuries to her neck and head from the impact.
Charges were filed on Schimanski for Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Attended Property and Failure to Render Aid or Give Information.
