SALEM TWP. — A man was charged June 19 after multiple police departments responded to a report of a person with a firearm.

According to the report, filed by Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Corporal Brian Rickard, multiple troopers from PSP Honesdale, Dunmore and Blooming Grove “...responded to an address on Hamlin Highway...” to a “...report of a male walking around his neighbor's property with an assault rifle.”

The report states police established a perimeter upon arrival, and “...the neighbor was safely extracted from the residence.”

Troopers then made contact with the accused, Dylan Hopkins, 45 of Lake Ariel, “...who relinquished his weapon without incident.”

Hopkins was then transported to undergo a mental health evaluation.

The report states he “...will be held on charged of recklessly endangering another person, persons not to possess a firearm and terroristic threats.”
