Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating Timothy August for passing bad checks at various local hardware stores and Weis Markets in the tri-state area.
According to police, August started purchasing chainsaws and leaf blowers in November 2017 using bad checks.
He would then turn around and sell the saws and leaf blowers for cash. August hit at least seventeen local hardware stores utilizing the bad checks.
In December 2017, August started purchasing gift cards at Weis Markets in Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wayne Counties with bad checks.
August hit the Weis Market more than fifty times with bad checks. He has purchased more than $25,000 in merchandise and gift cards with the bad checks since the beginning of November 2017, police said.
A warrant was issued for Timothy August’s arrest on 01/08/18 for charges of Corrupt Organizations, Dealing in Proceeds from unlawful activity, receiving stolen property and bad checks.
He was last reported to be in the Bethlehem PA area on 01/04/18.
August drives a black, Ford F250 pickup truck with a quad cab and 5th wheel hitch in the bed of the truck – PA registration ZJL1941. He was reported to be staying in his camper at various locations.
