The new program year for 4-H began in October for the Tri-Gal 4-H Club. We elected new officers and gained two new key leaders.

Our president is Brooke Rutledge, Vice-President is Kaitlin Price, Secretary is Brea Rutledge, Treasurer is Alexa Morea, News Reporter is Channing Rutledge and Pledge Leader is Jesse Scarpa.

Our club is under the key leadership of Amy Smith, Sara Terysen and Melissa Rutledge. Our club leaders for the new year will be Dan Rutledge, Jen Rutledge, Rich Brown, Natasha Brown and Marissa Diehl.

In November our club was awarded Gold Club for 2017. at Wayne County Achievement Night. Many members received book awards and honors.

Brea Rutledge was named Outstanding Wayne County Secretary of the Year and Channing Rutledge was named Outstanding Wayne County News Reporter of the Year.

Our club also made three Thanksgiving Baskets for our November community service project. These baskets went to three families who recently lost a loved one.

Each basket contained all of the ingredients for a thanksgiving dinner, including a twenty pound plus turkey. We also begin our December community service project entitled “Operation Spread Christmas Cheer.”

Our club adopted a platoon of 114 soldiers stationed in South Korea. Each solider was sent a stocking filled with various items.

We also sent cards to the veterans living at St. Francis Commons in Scranton and those who are patients at the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.

The club also donated snacks to the veterans at St. Francis Commons. Members gathered two large boxes of donations for the VA Hospital.

At our meeting on December 3rd at the Damascus Community Center, we stuffed the stockings, packed the donation boxes and wrapped the gifts.

The best part of this meeting was when Greg from WNEP-TV came to document “Operation Spread Christmas Cheer.”

All of the donations were delivered on December 13th. We did not stop there! Tri-Gal also adopted a family of four from the Angel Family Program.

On November 30th we met at Kmart in Honesdale to shop for the children and parents in this family.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year.
