WAYNE COUNTY — Penn State Cooperative Extension in Wayne County is now accepting applications from individuals interested in becoming a Penn State Extension Master Gardener in 2018.

The training course is designed to provide home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others through this education-oriented volunteer organization.

Bi-Weekly classes will be held starting January 13, 2018.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to Penn State Master Gardeners the first year.

Volunteer activities currently carried out by Master Gardeners in Wayne include Lakeside School Garden Program, MG Booth at the Wayne County Fair, MG table at the Hawley Farm Market, Dairy Ag Day and helping present and run many Master Gardener Workshops which are open to the public.

There is a program fee of $130 to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. Applications are being accepted through Nov. 27.
