STERLING TOWNSHIP — A tractor trailer veered off Route 191, Twin Rocks Road, near the interstate 84 off-ramp Sept. 12 shortly before 9 a.m.

Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell was dispatched to the scene at 9:03 a.m. and pronounced Robert Cornell Sumpter, Sr., 64 of Cleveland, OH deceased at the scene.

The cause of the death is pending investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for the afternoon of Sept. 13.

According to a release from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), the vehicle, towing a dual trailer, crossed over route 191 and entered a wooded area on the eastern berm where it struck an embankment.

The crash caused the vehicle's cab to separate from the tractor chassis.


Sumpter was the only victim and his tractor the only vehicle in the accident.

Other responders to the crash included Hamlin Fire and Rescue, Hamlin Ambulance and responders from Wayne County Emergency Management Agency.
