NEWFOUNDLAND — Green Dreher Sterling Fair has partnered with Walmart Pharmacy in Honesdale to provide flu and pneumonia vaccines during the 100th annual GDS Fair on Thursday, Aug 29 and Friday, Aug 31.

The vaccinations will be provided free of charge for all Medicare recipients and to those with most other insurances at the Walmart Pharmacy booth.

Fair admission is reduced to $3 for seniors on these dates.

“We understand that the flu and pneumonia present real public health concerns, and we would like to do our part in mitigating it,” said Andy Weist, President of the GDS Fair Board of Directors.

“We encourage all attendees to get vaccinated. Though children and seniors are the most vulnerable, less vulnerable groups can pass on their illness to children or seniors they encounter.”

The Walmart Pharmacy will have a booth set up both days, and on top of providing vaccinations, they’ll also be providing free blood pressure screenings and health advice to anyone interested.

“We love doing events like this,” said Dominick Ardo, PharmD and clinical pharmacy manager at Walmart.

“It helps us engage with the community and provide an important service that people want.”
