HONESDALE—On July 13, the Commissioners ratified a letter of support for a grant application made by the Wayne/Pike Workforce Alliance.
The alliance sought a grant through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to be designated as a Pennsylvania Academic/Career & Technical Training (PACTT) affiliate.
This program assists delinquent youth in achieving high school and post-secondary education, as well as potential employment thereafter.
The commissioners approved a request by Matthew A. Berger, MD to increase the hourly rate of his Physicians Assistant/Nurse Practitioner by $10 to a total of $150.
Berger provides psychiatric services to the county correctional facility as well as court-ordered psychiatric evaluations.
Also on July 13, the Board of Commissioners signed a professional services agreemetn with Timekeeping Systems, Inc. for a Guard 1 Plus system upgrade at the correctional facility.
At the meeting, Wayne County Chief Clerk Vicky Botjer stated that Guard 1 Plus assists corrections workers in performing their rounds and other tasks.
Commissioner Wendell Kay stated, “Our professional staff have said that this is a very useful tool and has been very instrumental in the management of all their resources.”
The Wayne County Commissioners hired William Bellhorn and Jeremy Oettinger as data collectors in the Tax Services Department.
Effective July 17, Bellhorn was hired at an annual salary of $23,920 and Oettinger at $24,920.
Oettinger's rate is higher due to an educational adjustment resultant from his Bachelor's degree.
Brendon Snyder was hired as a clerk typist in the Transportation department, effective July 31. Snyder will be compensated at an annual salary of $20,982.
Lori O'Malley was promoted to Behavioral Health Program Specialist 1, effective July 17. O'Malley is expected to receive an annual salary of $46,351.50.
Lastly,Shannon Guinard was promoted from Children and Youth Services Caseworker 1 to 2. Effective July 17, Guinard is expected to receive an annual salary of $35,587.50.

The Wayne County commissioners provided rebates of 2007 county taxes related to two civil court case settlements regarding First National Community Bank properties in Honesdale Borough.
The amounts rebated totaled $3,443.83 and $15.27 for the two parcels in question.
Also at that meeting, the commissioners approved the appointment of Lynn Karger; Robert Lederer, Carol Coe and Norma Coll to the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council Board.
Each were appointed to three year terms effective from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.
