Results of numerous studies suggest that annually the number of cases of Lyme disease in the United States is about 300,000.
Most cases are concentrated in the Northeast and upper Midwest. Fourteen states, including Pennsylvania, account for 96% of all cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control.
