HONESDALE – Honesdale Hose Co. No. 1 is seeking the public's assistance with its 2017 fund drive.

Donations may be sent to Hose Co. No. 1 at P.O. Box 174, Honesdale, 18431.

“Any assistance is greatly appreciated,” said member Scott Floyd.

Donations help with the purchase of life-saving equipment, training ground equipment, to cover general operating expenses, and help the company save for the future replacement of the fire engine, Floyd said. The replacement is anticipated to cost more than $600,000.

Protecting the greater Honesdale community since 1909, the company is staffed by volunteers who have completed countless hours of training to prepare themselves when the public is in need, Floyd said.

The company protects the community in various ways, including responding to structure fires, brush fires, automatic alarms, motor vehicle crashes, hazardous conditions, public services and assistance to EMS.

“The officers and members of Hose Co. No. 1 would like to thank the community for their past assistance and continued support,” Floyd said.

The company also said it will hold its annual chicken barbecue on Sunday, July 9, from 10 a.m. until sold out at 540 Main Street. Tickets will be available from any member.

In addition, Hose 1 is always looking for volunteers for firefighting and non-emergency positions. Anyone interested may stop by the station any Tuesday evening.
