TEXAS TWP. - A 97-year-old Hawley man died after a three-vehicle crash along state Route 191.
Guillermo Lagos was pronounced dead at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, where he was taken after the crash at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday, state police at Honesdale said.
Lagos' Toyota Celica rear-ended a pickup truck whose driver was attempting to make a left turn into Motion Physical Therapy, according to a report by Trooper Michael A. Oakes. The impact redirected the Toyota into oncoming traffic and it was hit by another vehicle.
The identifies of the other drivers were not released. No other injuries were reported.
• State police said a driver suffered unspecified injuries after he crashed into a utility pole along Main Street, near Lake Drive, in Gouldsboro.
Township resident Robert W. Craig, 28, was driving at an unreasonable speed on the snow-covered road at 3:38 p.m. Dec. 29. He lost control of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, slid off the north shoulder and collided with the utility pole, shearing it off its base, according to a release from Trooper Jamison Warner.
Craig was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton for treatment, Warner said.
He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, failing to use a seat belt and operating a vehicle without an inspection certificate.
Gouldsboro Ambulance and utility workers assisted at the scene.
