A special birthday celebration was held for Mildred Tyler who turned 103 on April 25, 2008. Mrs. Tyler and her late husband Edson operated a farm on Conklin Hill Road, Damascus for many years. She is currently a resident at Osprey Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Carbondale. She was presented proclamations from Carbondale Mayor Justin Tyler, at left, and State Rep. Ed Staback, at right. Marie Diehl, her long time neighbor and friend, said that Mrs. Tyler was born in Paradise, Pa., and married Edson in 1927; he died in 1990. They had no children, but she had six sisters and two brothers, who have since passed. Mrs. Tyler attended Damascus United Methodist Church.
