William “Jack”  and Anna Klage are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2009.
Jack was born in Holtorf, Germany and his wife Anna was born in Mondal, Norway. They came to this country as young children. They met through a friend as teenagers.
Jack ran his own business: body and fender work in Brooklyn for 50 years. They raised their family in Freeport, L.I. The Klages moved to Pennsylvania in 1982 and live in Rillyeville. Anna still keeps house and Jack still works at Wal-Mart five days a week.
They have six children, five daughters and one son: Anita Urso of Hazelton, Peg Pearsall of Beach Lake, Bill Klages of Staten Island, NY, Marlene Klages of Tyler Hill, Gretchen Williams of Tyler Hill and Tina Williams of Connecticut. They also have 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
When asked what makes a good marriage: “Love, caring, respect and a lot of patience.”
Their children are giving them a party October 3rd for family and friends.
