Fire truck rides set
HONESDALE – As part of Fire Prevention Week, Honesdale Fire Depoartment is again hosting free fire truck rides for area children. Rides will be held at Central Park Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

VIP vigil changed to 5:30 p.m.
HONESDALE – Victims Intervention Program (VIP) has moved the time for the candlight vigil in Central Park, Honesdale this Wednesday, to 5;30 p.m., lasting one hour. The vigil is meant to raise awareness to the problem of domestic violence, For more information, call VIP at 253-4401.

Last minute seats for church bus tour
HONESDALE – Due to a cancellation, three seats have become available for the Wayne County Historical Society's October 10 bus trip to Churches of Northern Wayne County.  Price is $35 for WCHS members, $37 for non-members and includes lunch and dinner.  Reservations must be in by Friday, October 2, and the seats will be sold on a first-come first-served basis.  Stop in at the historical society, 810 Main St.,10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call (570) 253-3240 with a credit card.

Halloween parade set
HONESDALE—The Annual Honesdale Area Jaycees Halloween Parade is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, 7 p.m., with a rain date of Wednesday, October 28.
The parade proceeds from Fourth Street, up Main Street, ending at Central Park.
The parade lineup is between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

WW Class of ‘79 hosting reunion
WAYMART— The Western Wayne Class of 1979 is holding their 30-year class reunion on Saturday, October 17, 6 p.m.
The event is being held at The Lodge at Keen Lake, Waymart.

WWII re-enactment Oct. 17
BETHANY – The Bethany Public Library is privileged to be hosting a World War II reenactment by the 103rd Infantry Division on October 17, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the park in Bethany.
See demonstrations, uniforms, gear and weapons of the WW II Infantrymen  all day long, A concession stand will be available. The event is open to the public and has no cost.
