• Penny Social, Doors open: 2 p.m., Numbers called: 4:30 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church Parish Hall, Church St., Honesdale
• Santa Express train rides aboard the Stourbridge Line! Santa, Rudolph and friends will all be aboard this two hour excursion. The train departs from Honesdale on Saturdays, December 5 and 19 and on Sundays, December 6 and 13 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children 12 and under. For reservations call 253-1960 or 1-800-433-9008.
• The Scranton Office of the United States Census Bureau will be at the Viewmont Mall, Dickson City,, Noon till 8, signing up anyone interested in working for the Census, Call 1-866-861-2010 or  www.census.gov for more information or to register for  an employment test. • Browndale Fire Company hosts  Annual Holiday Open House and Craft Fair starting at 11 a.m. Santa will visit between 2 and 4 p.m. Info: President Juliann Doyle at 499-4908
• 110th Annual Christmas Bird Count, Sunday, Dec. 20th, 2009. Anyone interested in helping in this important bird census may call Barbara at (570) 253-2364. Less experienced birders will be paired with veteran birders.
• Spaghetti Dinner – 3 to 5 p.m. at Palmi's Restaurant on Rte. 191 in Equinunk. Cost $10.00. Proceeds benefit Equinunk Historical Society's new addition which is under construction at the Museum on Pine Mill Rd., (across from the restaurant.) For information or directions, call (570)224-6722.

• The Waymart Fire Company is glad to announce that Santa will be making a last minute visit to Waymart, 2 p.m.,  will arrive at the Fire Hall to host the Community Christmas Party on one of
the Companies fire engines.  The Fire Company has agreed to give him a ride so that his reindeer will be rested for their long journey on Christmas Eve.

   • The Wallenpaupack Area High School jazz band will combine with local jazz combo Curiously Strong Jazz, and world-renowned bassist Charnett Moffett, to present a holiday jazz concert, at 7 p.m., in the WAHS auditorium.
• The Shawnee Playhouse presents their 31st annual MESSIAH Free Community Sing at 8 p.m..
