A forum on residential wind power will be held on Tuesday, April 27th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Park Street Complex in Honesdale. So, will wind power work? How do we get it? What are the costs? What are the pitfalls? These are questions that will be addressed at this first forum of 2010 presented by the group SEEDS (Sustainable Energy Education & Development Support). The Park Street Complex (formerly the Stourbridge School) is located at 648 Park Street just west of Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Speakers will include Greenfields Energy Solutions of Mayfield, PA, Sandy Babuka of Trehab Renewable Energy in Montrose, and two homeowners who have installed windmills: Steve Adams of Tyler Hill and Michael Wood of Beach Lake, PA.
“We are revisiting small wind, the topic of our very popular first forum in 2008” says Michele Sands, the chair of SEEDS. “We want to see if wind technology has advanced enough to make it a real alternative here in north east PA when energy costs are blowing us away.”
The event is open to all, and free-will offerings will be appreciated. Refreshments will be served.
SEEDS is a non-profit organization made up of local people committed to helping the community become more self-sustaining and resilient. SEEDS has launched various programs to further these goals including their 350 kWh Saved! Project which helps local families save electricity and money on their electric bills. For further information about this and other projects, one may contact SEEDS by calling Michele Sands at (570) 224-0052 or by e-mailing the group at seedsgroup@gmail.com.
