The 2nd Annual ‘In Good Taste’; an evening’s French wine & food tasting, is scheduled this Friday at the showroom of Wayne County Ford, Route 6, Indian Orchard. Proceeds benefit the Wayne County Public Library.
The event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
This year’s theme is French wines and foods.  Tickets are on sale at the library, 1406 North Main St. in Honesdale, and can be held for pick up and purchased with cash, check or even credit card.  Please contact the library directly at (570) 253-1220 for more information and to process your transactions.  Tickets are $25 in advance and will be $30 at the door on the evening of the event.
Modeled after the tremendously successful Tunkhannock Library’s annual wine tasting fundraiser, which consistently raises over $25,000, The Wayne County Public Library is enjoying the lead up to their 2nd wine tasting event.  Last year’s benefit which was held in August in a party-tent on the grounds of the library, coordinated by the library’s Fund Raising Committee and assisted on many levels by local businesses and the efforts of countless volunteers raised over $12,000.  With the state of the economy, the Committee budgeted conservatively for an increase of 23% overall for the 2009 event based upon the feedback and inquires received at the library as to whether the event would be repeated since everyone had such a great time.
To everyone’s surprise the sponsorships, trade contributions, and volunteerism to date has been phenomenal and the Committee anticipates meeting their goal easily and perhaps surpassing it by 20%.
Attendance at the inaugural ‘In Good Taste’ event in 2008 was roughly 265; this year’s event ticket sales are approaching 300.  Wayne County Ford’s gracious offer of their showroom is significant not only because the showroom can easily handle the event but also because of the unusually variable and moist weather this year.  Air conditioning, a staging area for Jill’s Kitchen, more than adequate parking and a glamorous environment with majestic 20’ glass walls, high ceilings and fit-flooring pavers all combine to accentuate the library’s French theme for the annual benefit fundraiser, ‘In Good Taste’, An Evening’s French Wine & Food Tasting.
Sample six French varieties that will be paired with hors d’oeuvre tidbits and complemented by a delectable appetizer buffet.  Recording artist Kathy Jenkins will entertain and Mr. Robert Ott will present detail regarding each wine.  Additional wine servings will be available for purchase.  Beer as well as non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket price.
