The victim is alleged by State Police, to have been assaulted by suspect Mario Gonzalez, 36, of Staten Island, New York. The incident took place in the parking lot of the Rileyville Diner.
According to the report:
As the victim was leaving the Rileyville Diner, the suspect, Mario Gonzalez, was waiting in a dark area at the bottom of the porch ramp. Mr. Gonzalez had parked his truck tightly against the driver side door of the victim's vehicle, and another unknown male was standing next to it, in order to block his means of escape, said police.
Mr. Gonzalez allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm and punched him repeatedly in the side, where the victim recently had surgery. The victim fell to the ground to protect his injury, and was kicked in the face by Mr. Gonzalez. Diner patrons came out and confronted the suspect, who left shortly after. Prior to leaving, Mr. Gonzalez allegedly made further threats to the victim. The victim was transported by Damascus Ambulance for treatment of injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
Honesdale incidents
• Honesdale Police investigated an incident of retail theft at Stephen’s Pharmacy on Feb 3, 2010. An investigation revealed that Natosha Payne, 26 years old from Waymart was in the store waiting for a prescription. While she was waiting she was looking at items on the shelves which were held for sale. Employees observed her open a package and remove its contents, and conceal it on her person. A citation for a charge of Retail Theft was filed against Payne on February 4th.
• Honesdale Police investigated a disturbance at an apartment on Main Street at 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday night. When Ptlm Rosler and Lt. Witt arrived, they found an intoxicated 43 year old female of Honesdale, Sharon Lyons arguing with one of the tenants. A protection from abuse order from the Wayne County Court was found to be in effect between the parties and Lyons was arrested on a charge of Indirect Criminal Contempt for violating the order of the court. Lyons was also cited for public drunkenness. She was arraigned before District Judge Jane Farrell and remanded to the Wayne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7,000 bail. A hearing date has been set for February 11th.
