Township taxes will be stable for Damascus taxpayers in 2010, said Chairman Jeffrey Dexter, at the Supervisors’ meeting Monday night.
The Supervisors passed the proposed 2010 budget, which Dexter noted was written with less anticipated revenue in mind. Real estate transfer taxes are down, as less properties are sold during the national recession. The state Liquid Fuels Tax allocation for Damascus., used to maintain the roads, is down by four percent from the past year. Ironically, Dexter pointed out, what the public pays at the gas pump is up more than four percent.
They neverthless are expecting more income in 2010 than expenditures. Total income is $1,131,098.05. This includes $502,400 from real estate taxes. Expenses total $1,008,650.00. If all goes as planned, Damascus will bring in $122,448 above expenses.
