Barbecue Bob and the Spareribs played for the first time in 1981 during a music festival at Columbia University in New York City. Acoustic shows on the coffee house ciruit followed, and after this brief phase, the band plugged in and started playing rock and blues bars, mostly in and around New York City. They opened for national blues act at the famous Lone Star Café and then found a home at The Rodeo Bar which is still their NYC mainstay. The Spareribs make frequent appearances at clubs and festivals in the greater New York area, in Ohio, and have a regular show at Madam’s Organ in Washington, D.C. They have seven records on the DaDa Records label, the forthcoming release titled “Go Down South.”
Janet Burgan is a solo artist originally from Northeastern Ohio. After living and playing in New York City and releasing two albums with her band, “Janet Burgan” and “The Coyote Sessions,” she now resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania and plays festivals, farmers’ markets, benefits and concerts in the region and throughout the United States. She is a 2010 Puffin Foundation Grant winner for her grant, “Community Music” which provides funding for her to play music at farmers’ markets. This is her third Puffin Foundation Grant.
