Here I go again, getting into something I never meant to get involved with (so soon). Sorta like my jumping into the health care debate recently?
I’d mentioned then that I regretted speaking out (!) ‘cuz it meant I’d actually be commenting on the new presidents policies. I’d planned to give him a year or so, before doin’ that. But now it appears his entire policy (to date) Is “Health Care”. So I couldn’t help myself.
I’m bettin’ he’s gonna regret layin’ that many eggs..., in the proverbial “one basket”.
Anyway, I’d meant to let that pot simmer (participants stew) longer first. Same with this weeks topic.
Some folks know, I type with just one finger. What they don’t know is, I often sit down at the keyboard without a clue what’s coming. I simply give the finger (the “pointer” one!) it’s way.
Sometimes I git a clue when the headline comes out? But not always..., ‘cuz when that finger runs off at the mouth (tip?) you and I git a different column. Then I hafta change the headline.
Apparently this week is one of those times.
Me and my finger have sat on the sidelines listening and watchin’ while lots of folks have been enjoyin’ (?) their “Tea Party”.
Now except for that one up in Boston years ago? I’ve never cared much for tea parties (parties yes, but not tea). But I’m startin’ to get the impression this little party just may be the start of a bigger (much bigger) party comin’ (y)our way!
I’ve seen a little (very little) coverage on TV. And precious little even in the real news world (newspapers). Meanwhile the internet seems to be teeming with it? Whenever there seems to be a lot of “something” going around on the internet, while being (completely) ignored by “traditional” news outlets? I gotta wonder why!
In this case pretty much all I’ve heard, was that some folks got together (here and there) to protest what the big shots down in Ditsy City (Wash. D. C.) are doing with (what once was) our money.
Mostly all I heard about it, was lots of (negative) comments “about” the party participants? By any number of Senators and Congressmen (women). But almost no one among our “representatives” seemed to actually want to talk “with” the participants.
The politicians mostly offered “sound bite” comments! Ranging from, backwoods conservatives, ignorant right-wingers, rabble-raisers to nuts. Then stronger condemnations such as “dangerous” dissenters, “imported out of towners”, trouble-making extremists. Finally concluding they might be nazis, possibly even traitors?
Wait a Minute!? Don’t us regular folks actually “Own” D.C.? (and supervise the hired help down there?!).
All this kinda got my attention focused! So I took the time to scout out, not just the meager “news” reports, but the many pictures of these “dangerous” people on the internet (without government Or media filtering!).
After all, I’d dropped by the little “tea party” held locally awhile back (just out of curiosity, ya know?). Most of the folks participatin’ seemed “normal” enough to me? To the point where I even thought they were bein’ way too quiet and “civilized” to ever get any politicians attention.
Curiously, I’d found the same reasonable attitudes displayed over at the courthouse. Where I recently attended the “listening” session held by our local congressman (again, contrary to the “news” reports of “trouble” brewin’ there).
So what did my research (cursory review) of our capitals event coverage on the internet show me? Turns out a lot of people (and I mean A Lot of People!) took the time to hold that “Tea Party”. Right there in the big shots back yard!! But once again, almost no news coverage of it?!
Sometimes I flatter myself, thinkin’ maybe I can kinda read (feel?) what “Real” people are thinking.
I believe our government “employees” down there in Ditzy City making small of this “Tea Party” thing...? Are readin’ “the people” way wrong this time!
When politicians have got the nerve to call American Citizens names (of ANY kind) simply for not agreeing with what they’re doing? They are making a grievous mistake!!
They apparently haven’t read these words lately (ever?): “... right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances...”. Is the law. Just in case You don’t recognize ‘em? They’re part of the first amendment to (y)our constitution!
My grandma used to say,Tea has to “steep” awhile, to get strong enough.
I Don’t Know About You..., I’m thinkin’ “our” governments spending of (y)our money lately? Is gonna git just a little too steep, for ‘em to keep hangin’ on.
