I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU: It’s a moral problem

Maybe I’m just old fashioned? Maybe I’m just getting old? (I admit to 44). But I’ve lived long enough to realize I’ve seen too much! Spent way too much time listenin’, observin’ (cogitatin’) on too many things. Especially things people do that I find, for lack of a better word..., aggravating!
I’m tempted to simply say “disappointing” despite what life has taught me. Which is, if ya spend a considerable amount of your time circulatin’ amongst people? You’re gonna be more than merely disappointed! So I’ll stick with aggravated.
Now, the headline says; It’s a moral problem..., Not mine (mine are passable).
I’m reasonably comfortable sayin’ I’ve got some (morals). Having been instilled (occasionally by force) by parents and grandparents. I’d also have to include (not by name, mind ya) any number of other relatives, friends, coworkers and not a few strangers along the way. All of whom helped me become what some might (quaintly) refer to as “a man of morals”.
Now don’t go off thinkin’, there he goes gittin’ all self-righteous! That’s not my intent, at all.
Leaving out the “bad influences” with whom I’ve been known to associate. I never let them influence me much (or for long). So, I’ve become no different than the kind of person the majority of you readers out there have become.
The problem I see? Lies more with (my perception of?) too many Other peoples “morals”.
I won’t even include those “people” who commit crimes. Their (lack of) morals don’t deserve considerin’. I figure being criminals kinda let’s them “off the hook”, concerning the (somewhat lesser?) problem of morals (lack thereof) displayed by otherwise every day, law-abiding citizens.
What I’m really I’m thinkin’ about and zeroing in on? Are the “little” lack of morals I see on display everywhere, so often today!
Mighta been just as bad in generations past? I can’t be sure, but I don’t believe that. I prefer believin’ there was a certain rectitude, (look it up, I can’t be ‘splainin’ every word for the few lazy folks among ya) which governed society, through most of our history.
My apologies to the “boomers” among ya...? But once again, I’ve gotta lay it off onto that infamous “me” generation. And sure, I belong in there too? But I don’t always claim it (and often don’t agree with it’s ideas).
The boomers often misguided exuberance (look that up too) and youthful zeal to change society (“stick it to the man!”). They really “loosened” the fetters (look it up) of the moral compasses formerly imposed by society! Changing rules hitherto deemed simple enough in principle, that they’d been passed along for generations without being questioned.
By now you’re wonderin’ where’s this goin?! What’s his point?
Settle down, I’m fixin’ to enlighten ya. But first, though you’ll probly think the examples I’m gonna offer are so minor, why did I bother? I’ll tell ya that too, before we’re finished.
So, here’s a couple (minor?) things that bother me..., morally speaking.
Nine times out of ten, the bride wears white. Why?! Somewhere upwards of five of those ten brides “taking her vows” is Re-Marryin’! Didn’t white used to signify “purity” (look it u ..., aww never mind!). Just seems to me this somehow cheapens the Other four or five brides who might actually be, “pure”?  Why don’t they get up a protest about that?!
Another example is (so many) people doing their jobs in a half-a** (oops, meant less than stellar) manner!
All the while making lame excuses: job doesn’t pay enough; “they” expect too much; I’m leaving for (insert phrase) a better job, more money, school (waiting to git fired?).
What ever happened to “An honest days pay, for an honest days work” Or “Any job worth doing, is worth doing right”?  Why don’t these people change jobs (or stay home)?
More importantly! Why do you (and I) have to put up with their poor attitude, poor service and poor job performance? Their..., dare I say it? Lack of morals!
Last little thing..., and I’ll let ya git back to yer coffee.
Is it a lack of morals or merely an appalling dearth of edification (you know what to do) that has so coarsened the common language?
Language used daily by so many people, too much of the time! Seems everywhere ‘cept church (maybe?) one word in particular has gained tacit acceptance. Within every level of society! I won’t use it here (knowing you Won’t have to look it up!).
What really bothers me most about this lack of morals? The way it has cheapened life.
