Which is more dangerous?
More specifically, which is more dangerous to you and me? Which has the potential to cause more damage to America?
I’m not going to go into any great long, scholarly treatise in this little column. I don’t think you want to spend all that much time thinking about the question. Maybe I’m just not that bright (and I only git 800 words).
But I’m bringing it up because I do believe we’re (you’re) not paying enough attention.
At the very least you’re not letting the people who should be paying attention, know that we’re noticing they’re not doing their jobs? When’s the last time you wrote your representatives or someone else's representative? I’ll bet for 99.6% of you, that would be never.
Now feel free to correct me, if I’m wrong. But I know only 4 or 5 out of 10 of you even bother to vote. So I won’t expect a flood of corrections.
But you really should be commenting, writin’ an’ talkin’ to anyone and everyone who’ll listen, about the subject of the headline. One day (or more often) it’s surely going to affect you (again!). It’s just a matter of time.
Re-read that headline. The three groups mentioned are doing their part at every opportunity that presents itself. They believe in their cause, religion or ideology!
I’ve gotta pay my respects to the saboteurs. Theirs has been a (more or less) honorable profession for a very long time. They’ve been with us (ok, armies or governments) as long as there have been conflicting ideologies and wars.
They do their dirty work on the “QT” to help their respective “employers” win wars quicker and sometimes with fewer casualties. They often believe in the cause, but just as likely do their work for pay. Every government has (does) use them when it serves their purposes.
On the other hand I have no respect whatsoever for terrorists.
They are under no (official) umbrella of government sanction. Their function, like their name, leaves a dirty taste in the mouth. They seek only recognition (and submission). Expecting no respect, except from their equally sick peers. There is no honor in the things they do nor in why they do them.
And in todays world, if we are to believe the (so called) “leaders” of their religion, they have no spiritual sanctification.
They do what they do..., because they don’t like you and me.
Because we are “infidels”, folks who (supposedly) don’t believe in “their” God. Oh! And because when we kill them (or they’re lucky enough to blow themselves up!) they get 72 virgins! Hard to compete with that kind of thinkin’ folks!
Now, both these categories of functionaries can provoke anger or admiration, disgust or respect, based on your own orientation or location in the world. At least the saboteurs are (usually) sanctioned by connection to some government and therefore generally looked upon as “semi” legitimate combatants?
But that third group? Those “Apologists” might be harder to categorize? Actually for me they’re not. They are among the most dangerous people in America!
They’re the folks who (straight-faced) "justify” what the people in the first two categories do. Actually I’m probably wrong there? They’ve seldom justified the actions of saboteurs (our own or others). But they can and do apologize for (and thereby encourage more) terrorists!!
They find ways (not reasons, there are no reasons) to apologize for any action big or small, by any terrorist, individually or collectively. They’ve done it for years!
At the very least, they’ve done it since the early 1980s! Through what? Two dozen major terrorist attacks over the past twenty years or so? Hundreds of American lives (countless others) sacrificed, leading up to 9/11. Thousands more Americans killed that day and thousands more since!
Apologists exist down the street. In the next state, in our state houses, in the media (especially in the media!), and certainly in the halls of congress!
Most recently I’ve listened as they squirmed and wiggled and twisted until they found ways to (shamfully) justify another terrorist (act) right in our midst! Right here on American soil, on a United States Army Post of all places.
The fact that the terrorist was an American, an officer in our own army lends legitimacy to their apologizing. After all he was one of us, right?
NO! He was not one of us! He was a muslim extremist! His name was a good muslim name. His words (as he killed many and wounded many more) were the battle cry of terrorists..., Allahu Akbar!
I Don’t Know About You..., I believe God is Great, too! No apology needed.
