That’s right, I didn’t say tolerate less exercise (already do that). My idea is to resolve to do just what the headline says: Exercise (practice, implement, make use of) Less Tolerance.
Ouch! I can almost hear the liberals (of two known to peruse my column) snortin’ in disgust already. Might’s well climb down off their high horses an’ let their horses do the snortin’. Next they’ll rear back an’ spit “provincialist!” at me (among other things?). Well, that’s not really the dirty word they’d have us poor, unsophisticated folks believe.
It’s my gut feeling that practicin’ tolerance the way we (most Americans) have been, isn’t gonna work out for us in the long run. I’ve been watchin’ pretty close, an’ all the evidence I’ve seen shows it’s not working out in other places where (excess) tolerance has been practiced.
Not that I care much about those other places (except as object lessons for you and me). My interest in what we could (should) be doing in our own country does matter to me. I hope it matters to you, if only for your progeny.
Now before the folks down at the NAACP (or ACLU) git all riled up, I’m not talking about practicin’ intolerance towards black people. Nor asians, hispanics or even red people, for that matter.
I’m not even figurin’ on startin’ my little program of intolerance implementation, where it comes to (actual) religions either.
I mean, I haven’t got any real problems with religions. Not Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism or Buddhism. Nor with Shintoism, Mormonism, or even Jehovah's Witness’s (long as they don’t knock too early, wakin’ me up!). Not even with the Wiccans (well maybe them? not sure what the heck they are).
Last but not least, not with ordinary Christianity. I’ve been a practitioner a long time and consider myself a true believer. (isn’t that perverse, I feel a “twinge” writing the phrase “true believer”). One more thing the people I am upset with have done to our world.
I have a problem with just one “ism”. It’s where my intolerance is coming out, from now on.
The very same “ism” the (tolerant) news media folks blithely speak of, (as if it won’t ever effect them directly!) referring to it as Radical Islamism. Folks, it’s not any kind of true religious “ism”!! It is nothing, except fanatical zealots, who won’t tolerate anyone not like them, Period!
We all recognize this, and yet we’re encouraged to remain tolerant people!?
They’re not ever going to tolerate you! Just ask ‘em, they’ll tell anyone (with a microphone) they want you dead! We cannot tolerate these people. Not if we hope to live ourselves.
We’re told they don’t represent “true” Islam or the average moslems beliefs? Yet they’ve hijacked the moslem religion unscathed!
No One in the “main stream” of that religion is doin’ anything to shut ‘em down! The so-called “Leaders” of true Islam are (apparently) incapable of stopping the propaganda, bombing and killing (of anyone nearby). Meanwhile the “radicals” openly exercise their version of religious intolerance (sp. Terrorism!).
Getting back to those object lessons, I referred to earlier, London and Paris (see why I said I don’t care much?). Those are just two of the worlds more “tolerant” modern cities among others (San Francisco? let’s don’t go there). Those cities stand as lessons in what being “tolerant” can do for ya!
Every time radical moslems (millions) living in those cities think they can get away with it, they exploit the “tolerance” (and freedoms) offered there. Buildings burned, cars smashed, shops looted, people terrorized.
None of this violence would be taking place, if the good citizens who originally lived there had been just a tad less tolerant! I’m not sayin’ they shouldn’t have let moslems live there (well yeah, maybe I am). But had they asked, I mighta suggested a couple simple things.
First: No loud speakers “calling ‘em to worship” at all hours of the day (that’s disturbin’ the peace, not practicin’ a religion). If ya can’t even remember to bow down and pray (five times a day!) you’re not serious about it anyway. Second: If (ever) your “Parishioners” commence bein’ intolerant, You’ll no longer be tolerated!
By now you’re probably wondering how I plan to initiate my own intolerance? (unless you got bored and turned the page). What’s one loudmouth, old guy gonna do anyway?
I’ve already started, right here!
You can write too, can’t you? Write! Congressmen, senators, newspapers, tell ‘em, whatever they’re doing to stop these people (Terrorists), It’s Not Enough!
