  • Jon Stewart is "anything but warm and fuzzy," a staffer asserts in Lisa Rogak's biography of The Daily Show host, according to a New York Daily News review.
In Angry Optimist: The Life and Times of Jon Stewart, Rogak details Stewart's painstaking rise to fame and the bad behavior he exhibits now that he has it. As one staffer recalls, Stewart threw a newspaper at producer Madeleine Smithberg during a story meeting while screaming into her face. The host apologized afterwards, explaining, "Sorry, that was bad Jon. ... I try not to let him out."

The biography also describes an incident where Stewart verbally attacked Seth MacFarlane over the phone for a Family Guy joke that poked fun at Stewart for returning to work while his writers were still on strike. "Who the hell made you the moral arbiter of Hollywood?" Stewart supposedly bellowed. MacFarlane later told Piers Morgan that he was shocked by Stewart's call and referred to it as "an odd Hollywood moment."
But as the Daily News points out, the biography isn't all about mudslinging. It also details Stewart's affinity for Food Network shows, crosswords and hanging with his three-legged dog, Champ. Make of that what you will.
