  •  News from western Pennsylvania that one of their prominent businesspeople will be re-locating to Honesdale has been confirmed by the Greater Honesdale Partnership.
Mr. Horatio Whistler has announced plans to pull up stakes and open an office in historic downtown Honesdale.
Mr. Whistler has been a successful member of a western PA news team for many years as well as being known for his dedication to community and service.
He will begin his search for a new home and office in early September.
When asked what prompted his decision to relocate, the congenial Mr. Whistler revealed that his great grandparents had been residents of Honesdale many years ago.
He also divulged that he was, in fact, named after Horatio Allen, the former chief engineer for the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company and the purchaser of the locomotive known as The Stourbridge Lion, which ultimately made its test run in Honesdale.
Mr. Whistler expressed a strong interest in Honesdale’s history and stated that once he is settled in, he would be looking forward to getting very involved with the community.
Mr. Whistler will be seeking the help of Honesdale’s local realtors to find the ideal office space and is looking forward to moving into one of the large historic homes for which Honesdale is well known.
Greater Honesdale Partnership’s president, Jeff Hiller, was quoted as saying “We look forward to welcoming someone of Mr. Whistler’s prestige, unique talents and dedication to helping his community.” GHP board member, Jackie Murphy added, “Mr. Whistler’s commitment to get involved in Honesdale is welcomed."
