- Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County President Judge Joseph F. Kameen:
Timothy J. McDermott, Age 58, of Middle Village, NY, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On August 31, 2013, McDermott was driving his motorcycle along Kimbles Road in Lackawaxan Township when he lost control. A blood test revealed a blood alcohol level of .195%.
Curt Van Riper, age 24, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 1 month to 12 months in the Pike County jail and fined $500.00 for the crime of Receiving Stolen Property. Van Riper attempted to sell a game system and related items totaling over $400.00 knowing they were stolen from a residence in Port Jervis, NY.
Celeste Elizabeth Schafer, age 23, of Hawley, PA was sentenced to 6 months to 23 ½ months in a state correctional facility to run consecutive to the sentence she is currently serving for a total of 9 months to 47 months and was fined $500.00 for the crime of Escape. On December 3, 2013, Schafer failed to return to official detention at the Pike County Jail following a court granted furlough.
Elizabeth Lemole, age 46, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 1 ½ years to 3 years at a state correctional facility, followed by 2 years of probation and fined $1,200.00 for the crime of Bad Checks. On October 20, 2013, Lemole issued a bad check to pay for car repairs in Blooming Grove Township. In September, October and November she issued back checks for her rent payments in Blooming Grove Township.
